Prof. Hisham Othman Akbar is a distinguished Consultant Gastroenterologist and Internal Medicine
specialist at King
Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with his medical degree from
King Abdulaziz
University and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of British
Columbia in Vancouver. He
furthered his training with fellowships in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at renowned
institutions including McGill
University in Montreal, the University of Western Ontario, and the University of Pittsburgh in
Pennsylvania, USA.
Prof. Akbar holds certifications as a Fellow of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and
Hepatology from the Royal
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as an American Board certification in
Internal Medicine and
Gastroenterology. He has held significant leadership roles in his field, including serving as
the former Chairman of the
Gastroenterology Division, Head of the Endoscopy Unit, and Program Director of the
Gastroenterology Fellowship at King
Abdulaziz University Hospital.
